The MU Undergraduate Scholarship for Students with Disabilities, which is for studies leading to an undergraduate degree, is valued at a maximum of €2,000 for the academic year. The scholarship is open to entrant undergraduate students with a significant disability who are experiencing financial difficulties. Subject to satisfactory progress it may be renewed for a further two years.​
Criteria for the Maynooth University Disability Scholarship

  • Applicants must be students registering for the first year of a primary degree course in Maynooth University. 
  • Students will be considered for a scholarship where their needs assessment has identified that a significant level of support is required to assist with participation and retention in college.  A significant level of support includes eligibility for a Personal Assistant (PA), Irish Sign Language (ISL) Interpretation, Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP), Student Central referral, transport, campus accommodation and/or flexibility on attendance due to impact of a disability.
  • Students must be also be in financial hardship to be eligible for the Disability Scholarship.  The adjudication on financial hardship will be determined by the Student Budgeting Advisor. Only students who meet the criteria for a scholarship due to the impact of a disability will be referred to the Student Budgeting Advisor.
  • Applicants who have already secured funding from other scholarship funds will not be considered for the Maynooth University Disability Scholarship.
  • Where the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of available scholarships, the needs assessments will be reviewed by the Disability Office to prioritise those applicants where the impact is most significant.

To apply for the scholarship, students must be registered with the Disability Office and complete the required application form.  The impact of your disability will be assessed as part of the needs assessment process when registering with the Disability Office.
